Doctoral thesis from The Swedish School of Textiles

Swedish

Anna Persson from The Swedish School of Textiles made her dissertation publicly available today at the library. The thesis Exploring textiles as materials for interaction design studies how textile design and interaction design can be merged. The focus has been on textiles’ dynamic elements which can be used in interaction design. The elements in focus in the thesis were the spatial and temporal dimensions.

There are a few examples in the thesis such as a carpet, Spår, where threads illuminate when someone walks on it and Dimma which glows faintly in daylight and glows stronger when the room gets darker. These examples visualize possibilities for using textiles and work as inspiration for fantasy.

The thesis is the fourth in Studies in artistic research, a series from University of Borås  for artistic research. Anna Person defends her thesis 5th of June 2013 in M404.
