Check out A to Z of Social Media for Academia. It is a list of different social media platforms which can be used by researchers for their work. There are tips of uses one does not think of first, like Spotify. A lot of people like to listen to music and on Spotify you can create music lists that help you concentrate or inspire you when you have to start to write. Then you can share this list with other which might inspire them.
It is good to create accounts to some of these places that you judge to be relevant and/or useful for your work to create your own net-presence. It will be more difficult for someone to kidnapp your research identity which should be protected.
